It appears that once you set audio markers you cannot change them once saved. The only way I have done this is to delete the song and then re add. Its annoying because you have to re enter all the info for each song manually, and for example if you forget to indicate whether the song is a fade or end, you cannot go back and re set it once saved. I also wanted to set intro markers once I have bulk loaded my songs using the wave analysis feature. I can always enter the edit screen, set the intro points, test that they work, but they won't save! Is there a fix???

Hi there! All I can say, as a user, is that this feature should work. It always has done on my copy. Not sure why you're having a problem.

Try re-installing the programme but don't forget to copy the DB directory somewhere else first!!

Are you getting any error messages when trying to save the updated details? The program should allow you to update all details without problem... sounds like the databases are somehow getting locked... have you tried what Carl suggested?

Yes I reinstalled twice and installed on a different machine. I do not get any error messages.

Can somebody try the following as this is how I imported my songs... Using the bulk option I installed all my songs. (for test purposes you can select one or two songs) I then tick the wave analysis box and when everything is finished, I double click on one of the songs installed. I find that the wave analysis has put in some intro and outro marks only (cut in and mix out values). In the database management I then want to set a song outro style I select fade out, then click next then save close. At this point the save close does not appear to do anything i.e. the screen remains on database management. If I close with the 'x' in the top right corner then It goes back to the main screen. When I double click the same song again I then see nothing has changed ie. it has ignored my fade out setting. This also happens when I try to set an intro mark or change any of the cut in or mix out values. If I use the ADD function then I can happily set everything up and it saves ok, its only after asking to to bulk import that the problem arises.

Just wanted to say that I haven't used the 'bulk' function for years. Not sure I ever have. I just drag songs in from Explorer. Have you tried that?

Curious. I'm seeing this same problem but with adding genres; and then adding tracks to that genre. Weird!

Another quick diagnostic question. Do you use multiple profiles? I do and was wondering if that might be a common factor.

I've tried dragging the songs in as you suggested but I still can't edit them. The only way I can edit is by using the add function. Even then I discovered that you can't re edit it if you make a mistake, i.e. I clicked fade instead of end etc. Basically the problem is the save/close button. It is not working!! I also discovered a bug in Windows 7 that if you do the dragging function, you have to keep the window that contains the songs to the left, otherwise you don't see the pop up. You cannot close the song window! Task manager was the only way to close it which is how I found the pop up!
I also tried adding profiles. It allows me to name them but once done I dont appear to be able to select them. I know they have been added as if I attempt to name another profile the same it tells me the name is in use. I thought it might be a permissions issue with the database in Windows 7 so I created a new permissions with everything ticked. still no joy! Has anyone managed to run this program on Windows 7 or vista? (which are my other 2 machines)

Can you confirm you can re edit with XP? If so then I think it is definately some policy or permission setting for the database file. It seems that its ok to create, but once created cannot be modified. Is there an email address for the person who wrote the software?

This is a weird one... it appears to be something to do with the "Virtual Store". When the databases are opened, lock files need to be created. Vista and Windows 7 won't allow developers to write to anywhere within the "Program Files" folder.

Instead, new files are placed in the Virtual Store, which is located at:

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Radio Server Player 2\DB

Are there any .ldb files in that location? If so, try deleting them (when RSP isn't running).

Have you tried right-clicking on the RSP program icon (or shortcut), going to the "Compatibility" tab and checking "Run as Administrator"? I think you can also try checking "Run in XP service pack 2 mode" or something similar Smile

I'm not entirely sure why this is happening on your PC however...

Hi Chris,

tried all you suggested but still no go. There were no files in DB except folders marked songs, jingles, sweepers etc. What I did notice though was a padlock next to my user name (after users). The strange thing is though as i mentioned before, if I add a song individually and don't make a mistake entering and setting marker points, it will save the first time around, but after that i cannot modify without deleting the song and adding again. This is so frustrating.

It looks as if the security in Windows 7 and Vista won't allow any program to write to its own program folder. This is of course annoying!

I will need to re-write parts of RSP to fix this issue, so that it copies the settings file, databases and profiles to the "User Data" folder first.

In the meantime, the following fix should help you... Log in as an Administrator, go to the RSP folder in Program Files, head to Properties > Security and make sure the "Users" group is given Full Access to that folder.

This should then allow RSP to read/write to its own folder.

Hi Chris, I still cant get it to save. I've changed the permissions and also tried running in compatibilty mode (xp service pack 3) but still the same. I guess I shall have to wait for the patch.
