At the moment, so far as I can tell, RSP only looks for duplicates of "Artist - Title" when adding songs to the database.
Would be really useful if it could check for duplicate filenames as well, as if you change a song's details within RSP, then accidentally re-add the file, you end up with two versions of the same file.
Also, would be nice if it could do subfolder adding. So for example you have a folder called songs with sub-folders within it labelled A-Z, and all your songs in those folders. Then you just have to add the Songs folder, and it'll look through all sub-folders for songs, rather than currently where you have to go through each sub-folder one by one.
And finally, bulk re-analysis. Our head of music added about 4000 songs into the database without analysing them. I don't want to have to go through doing all the genres/tidying up titles again. Would be useful if there was a feature to select a load of songs and have RSP automatically re-analyse them. _________________ Ben Hodgson | http://ben.someaddress.net |

Interesting ideas, duly noted
Not sure about the duplicate filename thing though... what happens if someone (an idiot perhaps) has 2 different songs in different folders with the same filename, for example: they might have a 2 songs by Robbie Williams and both have the same filename "Robbie.mp3" - RSP would then only add one of them and ignore the other... perhaps I am being too presumptuous? _________________ Many Thanks,

What i think Ben is getting at here Chris, is duplications on file paths, not file names.
eg. a file at C:\Music\Robbie.mp3 would not cause a problem with C:\Music\More Music\Robbie.mp3 if you read the entire path... |

That's right Jason, but RSP would add both because it doesn't know those songs are different... you see? _________________ Many Thanks,

Thats fine, I'd say it's not up to RSP to be that clever, it's up to the person responsible for administering it to keep on top of the files.
It's just to stop the same file getting added twice by mistake. _________________ Ben Hodgson | http://ben.someaddress.net |
